I'm happy to report that I'm "Crippy Jones" no longer. I went to the see our good friend P. who happens to be the Chief Radiologist at Sydney Radiology for some X-rays on the ankle and I'm going to be just fine. No broken bones or bone fragments, just a few hematomas around the ankle. That means bruising. So no heels for a week, no running for a week and when the week is up, I'll need to run with a bandage for a few months just to be safe.
Apparently once you've sprained your ankle, the nerve endings that send the signal from the ankle to the brain become permanently damaged so you are more likely to experience sprains again in the future. Your ankle can't send the alert to your brain fast enough before you can correct your footing and avoid the twist, turn or roll of your foot.
I'm just glad that I won't be limping around on my birthday weekend. And you better believe I'll be in heels by Friday afternoon. Ha!
